Who the f*ck am I? Exploring Personal Identity Through Style

WTF aka Who the f*ck? is a fashion magazine that explores our ability to control our own identities within our personal style. Issue 01 features on family, the Heflins, who give us some insight into their own personal story and styles through the form of interviews.

Who the f*ck am I? Who the f*ck am I supposed to be in this world? These are all questions that I have continuously asked myself in my 23 years of life and have yet to find an answer to. In life, our identity is strongly rooted in things we can’t change, like our environment, race, and even our genetics. We are born with these aspects of our identity and have to come to terms with them no matter what. While these are important, sometimes it leaves us grasping for change to feel like our own person and take control of our lives apart from the people around us. One way we can take control of our identities is through our personal style. Each person has their own experiences in life that have led to how they choose to dress, look, and act within the world. WTF aims to explore the relationship between aspects of your identity you can control versus the ones that you are stuck with. Our personal style is a stepping stone to discovering who we are in this world and how we want to live our lives.

I am a graphic designer currently based in Chicago. I enjoy branding and packaging design and have had an eye for design for as long as I can remember. Making things look cohesive and aesthetically pleasing is my forte and I believe a strong brand identity can be crucial to the success of the brand in the long run. Besides this, I am very interested in content creation and enjoy the process behind creating content for a brand that can be used for email campaigns, social ads, etc. I have a passion for all things fashion and beauty and I strive to break societal norms placed around people of all races and genders within the fashion and beauty industries.
