Exploring the connection of communication & nature by sharing experiences in the form of screen-printed postcards to step away from the digital world.

As a young adult that finds herself tied to her phone way too often, I have become aware of my actions when traveling or experiencing nature through an activity. Often times, I take at least one, if not many, photos to document my enjoyment and appreciation of the beauty nature which, usually gets posted to social media. I have found myself thinking of this false connection of showcasing and sharing with others and how toxic it is. We find ourselves absorbed into the idea of showing off so much of our lives online. With the unprecedented technological development currently in the making, we often find ourselves sharing our experiences digitally. But why can we not give a tangible item to coin the same connection?

Within the last couple of years, I have been straying from sharing my travel experiences digitally. Instead, I have found enjoyment by sending postcards of the places I have been. Looking back, I have a greater appreciation of adding a new postcard to my collection than saving a photo to my camera roll. Taking this real and palpable experience as an example, I wanted everyone who experiences my project to take a step back to a time where we physically shared our travels, not through technology.
